Visa Requirements

Please note that, citizens permanently residing in the following countries: Member States of the European Union, Australia, Canada, Japan, Kingdom of Bahrain, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kingdom of Thailand, Lebanese Republic, Malaysia, New Zeeland, Republic of Korea, Republic of Turkey, Israel, State of Kuwait, State of Qatar, Sultanate of Oman, Swiss Confederation, Ukraine, UAE, UK, USA may enter and stay in Georgia without a visa for 90 days in any 180-day period.

Aliens who are holders of valid visas or/and residence permits of UK, Canada, USA, EU member countries, Japan, Australia, New Zeeland, Republic of Korea, Israel, State of Kuwait, State of Qatar, Sultanate of Oman, U.A.E may enter and stay in Georgia for 90 days in any 180-day period.

To enter and stay in Georgia, appropriate visa or/and residence permit should be valid at the moment of crossing the Georgian border. This should be verified with the travel document or/and other relevant document.

Travelers can obtain Georgian Visa at the Georgian Embassy/Consulate office or apply for electronic visa.

 

Getting There

By air

Direct flights to Tbilisi are avallable from many European and Asian cities. Non-stop flights can be taken from Amsterdam, Mu-nich, Riga, Vienna, Frankfurt, Prague, Par-is, Warsaw, Istanbul, Dubai, Tel-Aviv, Ath-ens, Baku, Rome, Moscow, Yekaterinburg, Kiev, Minsk, Alma-Ata, Astana, Aktau, Teh-ran, Urumqi, Athens, London, Alma-Ata, Doha and Erbil.

By land

Daily buses mainly to Tbilisi depart from Baku, Istanbul, Ankara, Trabzon, Yerevan and Athens.

By Train

Georgia is connected to Armenia and Azerbaijan. Trains from Baku are available every day and for more information and timetables, please visit www.railway.ge

Currency

The official currency in Georgia is the Georgian Lari usually indicated as GEL. the Lari is subdivided into 100 Tetri. One GEL equals 0.46 Euros or 0.60 U.S. Dollars (as of January 2012). Major hotels accept credit cards, but please check outside the main cities. Cash point machines are avail-able throughout major towns and cities.
